Job Description

RPO Recruitment's client is currently seeking a skilled and passionate Metallurgist to join our client's team in the Mining Industry, based in Mooinooi. As a Metallurgist, you will be responsible for optimizing and ensuring the efficient operation of the metallurgical processes to achieve production targets and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory and field experiments to analyse and evaluate metallurgical processes and ore samples.
  • Ongoing monitoring and analysis of production data to identify areas for improvement and optimize process performance.
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to maximize recovery, minimize costs, and meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations in all metallurgical activities.
  • Document and report on process performance, including recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and best practices in metallurgical processes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to plant operations personnel.
Requirements:

Education:
  • Matric Certificate/ Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Science).
  • BTech Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Post Graduate qualification might be advantageous.

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years post qualification experience on metallurgical plants.
  • Must have PGM flotation and Chrome recovery plant experience.
  • Must have good presentation skills.
  • Good computer literacy, administration and housekeeping skills are essential.
  • Must be in possession of a valid certificate of fitness.
  • Must have a valid code 8 driver’s license and own transport.

Additional

  • Reside in close proximity of the operations or be prepared to relocate (Mooinooi, Millsell, Lesedi Plants).
  • Prepared to perform routine official stand-by duties as may be required.
