Job Description

A leading manufacturing plant is looking for an experienced Millwright with strong electrical and mechanical skills to support continuous plant operations to join their team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining machinery, reducing downtime, and supporting production efficiency through preventative maintenance and technical problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Support manufacturing operations during continuous shifts by addressing process, mechanical, and electrical issues.

  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve equipment faults, ensuring minimal production downtime.

  • Perform routine inspections on running machinery to prevent breakdowns.

  • Adhere to and enforce safety regulations for all personnel and contractors on site.

  • Participate in problem-solving workshops and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Execute preventative maintenance plans to enhance equipment reliability and availability.

  • Make improvement recommendations to ensure long-term operational sustainability.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to support informed business decisions.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 and Trade Tested Millwright qualification.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in both electrical and mechanical engineering.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing/production environment.

  • Proficient in PLC fault diagnosis, SCADA systems, and basic PC/network integration.

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, welding, cutting, and machining.

  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSACT).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressure.
