An  industry-leading client of ours is currently looking for an experienced Millwright to join their team

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee performs highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with electrical systems. Electrical work may be performed in several areas including heating, refrigeration, motors, fire alarms, and generator equipment. Work involves the technical application of electrical principles.
  • Installs, services and repairs lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets and wiring.
  • Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
  • Installs, repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Constructs and maintains service equipment.
  • Reads electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Requisitions material and supplies from stockroom; call vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies, and recommends purchases and suppliers.
  • Transfers primary power from one power source to another.
  • Installs conductors, splices cable, build terminations and does necessary hook-up for primary power lines.
  • Diagnoses causes of electrical problems or failures to identify equipment and/or systems repair.
  • Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders to provide information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and safety regulations.
  • Inspects electrical systems and their components to evaluate condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
  • Installs electrical system components (e.g. lighting, alarms, electrical panels, switches, circuits, timers etc.) to provide enhanced and/or upgraded electrical capabilities.
  • Monitors the electrical work of outside contractors.
  • Repairs electrical components and/or systems (e.g. motors circuits, transformers, generators, compressors, switches, intercom systems, cafeteria kitchen equipment, etc.) to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Requests equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure the availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
  • Assume the GMR 2.1 responsibilities as a “competent person (b)” for the site as defined in the OHS Act.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Desire to lead, influence and coach others.
  • Good team player.
  • Strong work ethic; self starter; results orientated.
  • Good ability to plan and anticipate.
  • Ability to work in an operational/functional matrix organisation.
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Trade tested and qualified.
  • 3-5 yrs experience in Food or FMCG industry.
  • At least 3 years experience in the electrical field.
  • Artisan Minimum N3.
  • Take instructions / communicate in English.
  • Willing to contribute as a member of the operations team.
  • N6 (Heavy Current).
  • At least 4 years of experience in a Food or Chemical Manufacturing Environment.
