Job Description

A highly reputable FMCG Company is looking for an experienced Factory Manager with extensive expertise in food and beverage production to join their team in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in production, planning, maintenance, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with food safety (HACCP, GMP, FSSC 22000) and OHS standards.

  • Align production and packaging activities across shifts to maintain consistency and high product standards.

  • Lead and develop high-performing teams through coaching, talent development, and succession planning.

  • Maximise material yields and minimise waste through process optimisation and Lean Manufacturing principles.

  • Manage machinery and equipment, including pasteurisers, high-speed filling machines, water chilling systems, and inkjet printers; ensure maintenance and preventative programs are followed.

  • Plan and control production, raw materials, consumables, and stock levels; coordinate procurement and supplier relations.

  • Implement cost-saving initiatives, budgetary management, and performance tracking against KPIs.

  • Foster a positive workplace culture aligned with company values and strategic goals.

  • Support cross-functional projects and company-wide strategy execution.

  • Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and quality standards while promoting continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Manufacturing Management, Production & Operations Management, or Food Technology.

  • Extensive experience in FMCG or food production environments.

  • Strong leadership experience with proven ability to manage teams, improve productivity, and enforce compliance.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance, food safety systems, and occupational health and safety practices.

  • Experience with high-speed production machinery and equipment maintenance planning.

  • Strong planning, budgeting, and cost-control skills, including labour optimisation.
