RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading engineering firm in Midrand is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team. The role involves leading and delivering high voltage electrical engineering solutions across complex infrastructure projects, from concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead HV engineering design for substations, transmission, distribution, and reticulation systems
• Prepare, review, and approve technical designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
• Ensure compliance with Eskom standards, SANS, IEC, NRS, Grid Code, and OHSA regulations
• Support projects through feasibility studies, tender evaluations, and cost estimates
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams
• Provide site-based support including inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover
• Identify and manage technical risks while ensuring safe, cost-effective solutions
• Ensure delivery within quality, safety, budget, and programme requirements

Requirements:

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) advantageous
• 7–10+ years’ electrical engineering experience
• Strong HV experience including substations, transmission, distribution, and protection systems
• Proven exposure to full project lifecycle (design to commissioning)
• Site-based construction experience essential
• Experience in mining, energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors advantageous
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
