A leading beverage company is seeking a driven Field Sales Manager to lead and develop a high-performing sales team, drive brand visibility, and grow volumes in a competitive FMCG environment in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a track record in sales management, and experience in the beverage or FMCG sector.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of Sales Specialists to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly targets

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor individual and team call cycles across all outlets

  • Conduct biweekly in-field coaching sessions and ongoing performance evaluations

  • Develop tailored development plans for team members and manage performance improvement processes

  • Ensure execution of brand strategies, availability, promotions, and merchandising standards

  • Drive sales volume growth through gap analysis, coaching, and field support

  • Conduct in-trade assessments to identify opportunities and implement action plans

  • Actively participate in market activations and SKU launches

  • Manage daily operations including call rate tracking, cooler verification, and route compliance

  • Oversee all team tools, assets, and resources to ensure operational readiness

  • Compile and analyse daily/weekly sales reports and implement corrective actions where needed

  • Monitor competitors, pricing, and promotional activity to stay ahead in the market

  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders

  • Liaise with Route to Market partners to ensure effective trade execution

  • Support in client meetings and joint business planning sessions

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, deadlines, and reporting requirements

  • Oversee asset management and compliance with relevant labour legislation

  • Manage budgets for fuel, travel, and operational expenses


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 + NQF Level 4 qualification

  • 2–3 years sales & merchandising experience in FMCG (beverage industry advantageous)

  • 1–2 years’ team management experience (minimum 4 direct reports)

  • Valid driver’s licence + 2 years driving experience

  • Strong business acumen, negotiation, conflict management, and planning skills

  • Ability to manage diverse teams in high-pressure environments

  • Relevant Sales/Marketing or Business Management qualification

  • Knowledge of BCEA & LRA

  • FMCG informal market experience
