Job Description

A well-established manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Safety Officer with a solid background in implementing and maintaining SHEQ systems to join their team in Klipriver, Gauteng. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and update risk assessments and method statements as required.

  • Facilitate safety training and ensure legal appointments and competency requirements are maintained.

  • Manage incident and accident investigations, including crisis management.

  • Liaise with contractors to ensure safety files and compliance documentation are up to date.

  • Lead safety meetings and SHE Committee activities.

  • Oversee ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 compliance, ensuring systems are implemented and maintained.

  • Monitor and manage fire safety equipment inspections and emergency preparedness drills.

  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and hygiene standards, including medicals and first aid readiness.

  • Conduct safety inductions for new and existing employees.

  • Compile and maintain SHEQ documentation, statistics, and reports.

  • Support environmental sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

  • Contribute to the preparation of SHEQ files for tenders and client sites.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) essential.

  • SAMTRAC, SHEMTRAC, or NEBOSH qualification required.

  • SACPCMP registration advantageous.

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a Safety Officer role within a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment.

  • Strong knowledge of SHEQ systems, ISO standards, and relevant legislation.

  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and administrative skills.

  • Ability to foster a proactive safety culture and ensure continuous compliance.
