A leading manufacturing company is looking for a SHEQ Manager with a strong background in safety, health, environment, and quality management systems to join their team in Cape Town, Western Cape. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, maintaining certifications, improving product quality, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain SHEQ policies, systems, and procedures in line with BRCGS and FSC standards.
Conduct internal and supplier audits, risk assessments, and root cause analyses, ensuring timely corrective actions.
Oversee food safety and quality management to maintain consistent product standards and minimize defects.
Lead safety programs, toolbox talks, and training initiatives to promote a culture of compliance and safety.
Manage environmental systems, ensuring adherence to waste, emissions, and sustainability regulations.
Address customer complaints, analyze trends, and implement process improvements.
Supervise quality controllers and ensure compliance with operational and product specifications.
Coordinate FSC compliance, audits, and supplier verification processes.
Maintain accurate SHEQ documentation, records, and performance reports for management and auditors.
Collaborate with R&D and production teams to support trials, quality initiatives, and process optimization.
Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of SHEQ legislation, auditing, and management systems (BRCGS & FSC).
HACCP and Internal Auditing certification or formal training.
Proficiency in Syspro and solid understanding of quality assurance and data analysis.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proven track record of driving safety, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
