RPO's client is actively seeking a qualified Health and Safety Officer to join their team in Epping, Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join a thriving metal recycling group. This is a full-time, onsite position with a competitive benefits package.
Responsibilities:
- Drive compliance with health and safety regulations and internal policies
- Facilitate safety inductions and ongoing training programs
- Keep management informed of health and safety legislation and updates
- Develop safety procedures and emergency response protocols
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits
- Perform risk assessments and implement corrective actions
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses
- Submit reports to management and external stakeholders as required
- Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., Department of Employment and Labour)
- Monitor and enforce contractor safety compliance
- Assist in maintaining ISO 14001 & 9001 systems
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- National Diploma in Safety/Environmental Management or similar
- SHEMTRAC, SAMTRAC, or NEBOSH IGC certification
- 3–5 years’ experience in health and safety in an industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of the OHS Act & Regulations
- Practical ISO 14001 & 9001 experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
- Registration with SAIOSH or SACPCMP (advantageous)
