Job Description

RPO’s client is actively seeking an experienced Maintenance Coordinator to join their food-manufacturing facility near Franschhoek. This full-time, day-shift role is perfect for a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and can keep critical equipment running smoothly. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all factory machinery, tools and utilities (water, effluent, refrigeration, solar systems).
  • Schedule and coordinate preventive / breakdown maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Diagnose mechanical & basic electrical faults and drive root-cause/corrective actions.
  • Manage small projects, cost estimates and contractors from planning through hand-over.
  • Enforce food-safety, health-and-safety and risk-management standards.
  • Maintain maintenance records, spares levels and report KPIs to management.
  • Lead and mentor a small team; ensure weekend cover every second week.

Requirements

  • Proven maintenance experience in food or FMCG manufacturing (fish/seafood advantageous).
  • Competency across mechanical, basic electrical, refrigeration and utilities; trade test a plus but not essential.
  • Strong problem-solving, project-management and time-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of H&S, food-safety and risk-management regulations.
  • Computer literate (CMMS / MS Office).
  • Able to commute daily from Franschhoek / Paarl / Stellenbosch area; relocation not provided.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to engage all levels on root cause and corrective actions.
