A leading manufacturing company based in Somerset West, Western Cape, is seeking an experienced Shipping Specialist with strong expertise in managing both inbound and outbound logistics, customs compliance, and international shipping procedures. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive professional to coordinate all shipping operations, ensure adherence to local and international regulations, and support seamless import and export processes. Responsibilities
- Oversee all shipping and logistics operations for both imports and exports.
- Ensure compliance with all customs, VAT, and SARS shipping requirements.
- Manage outbound logistics through exports and inbound logistics through imports.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs officials to ensure smooth clearance and delivery of goods.
- Monitor and manage documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure adherence to INCOTERMS and transport regulations across all modes of transport.
- Coordinate and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
- Handle the movement of dangerous and/or flammable goods in compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate shipping data and documentation on ERP systems.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment with production, quality, and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma in Shipping, Maritime, Logistics, Transportation, or an NQF 6 equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a Shipping, Logistics, or Transportation environment.
- Proven experience managing both export and import logistics operations.
- Code 08 driver’s licence.
- Extensive knowledge of Customs, VAT, and SARS shipping requirements.
- Strong understanding and practical knowledge of INCOTERMS.
- Experience handling dangerous and/or flammable goods (advantageous).
- Good understanding of transport regulations, compliance standards, and logistics processes.
- Knowledge and transactional exposure on ERP systems; SAP experience is an advantage.
- Strong administrative, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
