RPO Recruitment's client is looking for a SHERQ Manager to join their team in Germiston, Gauteng.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing SHERQ systems across the plant to ensure legal compliance, minimize risk, and promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full legal compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, NEMA, and all applicable standards.

  • Manage all legal appointees, including their training and competency verification.

  • Investigate and report incidents, injuries, and occupational diseases.

  • Conduct and review risk assessments and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Develop and coordinate annual training plans, safety inductions, toolbox talks, and safety campaigns.

  • Lead internal SHERQ audits and manage external certification audits.

  • Compile and present monthly SHERQ performance reports.

  • Oversee contractor safety compliance and site security measures.

  • Implement and monitor environmental systems including waste and emissions control.

  • Support the Quality Department in achieving FSSC 22000 compliance.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across SHERQ functions.

  • Promote food quality, hygiene, and safety standards in accordance with KPIs.

  • Ensure employee adherence to company health, safety, HR, hygiene, and communication protocols.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Safety or Environmental Management (or equivalent).

  • 5–7 years' experience in HSE Management, including 3 years in a managerial role.

  • Experience in the food or poultry processing industry is preferred.

  • Proficient in MS Office, incident management, and reporting systems.

  • Certified in SAMTRAC, HIRA, Incident Investigation, First Aid, Firefighting, and ISO Internal Auditing.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to coach cross-functional teams and enforce compliance.

  • High attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently.
