A reputable FMCG manufacturing company is seeking a reliable Maintenance Assistant to support day-to-day plant maintenance operations at their facility in Blackheath, Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance background, be hands-on, and able to support breakdowns, preventative maintenance, and general plant upkeep. An electrical trade test background will be considered a strong advantage but is not essential.

Responsibilities:

 • Assist with routine and preventative maintenance on FMCG production machinery and plant equipment.
 • Support maintenance technicians during breakdowns and fault-finding activities.
 • Carry out basic electrical and mechanical repairs under supervision.
 • Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly condition.
 • Adhere to health, safety, and food safety standards within the manufacturing environment.
 • Assist with installations, modifications, and minor projects as required.
 • Accurately complete maintenance checklists and basic documentation.
 • Perform other maintenance-related duties as required from time to time.

Requirements:

 • Previous experience in a maintenance or technical assistant role within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
 • Basic electrical knowledge; an electrical trade test will be a strong advantage.
 • Willingness to learn and work under supervision of qualified artisans.
 • Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
 • Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills.
 • Ability to work shifts if required.
