Job Description

A leading private hospital group is seeking an experienced Theatre Unit Manager to take charge of a Day Theatre in Boksburg. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse with a post-qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science, proven leadership ability, and strong clinical expertise. This is an exciting opportunity to drive high standards of patient care and lead a specialised team within a dynamic healthcare environment.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality nursing care in the Day Theatre

  • Monitor patient safety, infection prevention, and adherence to clinical protocols

  • Maintain compliance with SANC standards and all relevant healthcare legislation

  • Drive continuous improvement in theatre practices and patient outcomes

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a skilled nursing team within the unit

  • Facilitate training, coaching, and ongoing professional development of staff

  • Conduct performance management, capacity building, and succession planning

  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence

  • Oversee daily theatre operations, ensuring smooth coordination of procedures

  • Manage resources, equipment, and supplies to support theatre efficiency

  • Implement quality assurance processes and maintain accreditation standards

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance patient experience

  • Ensure compliance with professional, ethical, and organisational policies

  • Maintain accurate records and reporting for audits and regulatory requirements

  • Enforce adherence to health and safety legislation in the theatre environment

  • Support the implementation of evidence-based best practices in nursing care

  • Build strong relationships with doctors, patients, and hospital management

  • Participate in hospital committees and contribute to broader clinical strategies

  • Support communication and collaboration across departments for optimal service delivery


Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma in General Nursing / B Cur Degree (or equivalent NQF 7 qualification)

  • Post-graduate qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science (essential)

  • Registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse

  • Relevant experience in a Theatre environment (essential)

  • Strong clinical leadership and operational management experience

  • In-depth knowledge of nursing theory, theatre practices, and healthcare legislation
