Job Description

RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established civil engineering contractor with a proven track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across South Africa, is currently seeking a professionally registered Site Agent to lead the delivery of major national roads projects in the Northern Cape.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specified quality and safety standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee project resources, including labour, plant, subcontractors, and materials.
  • Liaise closely with the client, engineers, and consultants to maintain strong professional relationships and ensure compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Prepare and manage construction programmes, cost reports, and progress documentation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop site teams to achieve performance and productivity targets.
  • Manage contract administration, variations, and claims in collaboration with the project manager and quantity surveying team.
  • Drive continuous improvement in construction methodologies and quality management systems.

 

Requirements:

  • BTech/BEng/National Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng/Pr Techni Eng registration with ECSA or Pr CM registration with SACPCMP (essential)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in civil construction, with at least 5 years in a Site Agent or Senior Site Management role on large-scale national or equivalent road projects
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary road construction projects including earthworks, layerworks, drainage, and surfacing
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., GCC 2015, FIDIC, or NEC)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Willingness to be based on site in the Northern Cape
