An industry-leading client of ours is currently looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. 

Reporting to General Manager for Engineering and Projects, the Maintenance Manager will be accountable for the total plant's purchasing, planning, maintenance, and refrigeration functions within budget. Developing the maintenance team members and processes and ensuring maximum equipment availability to the plant.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:
  • Formulate and check a preventative maintenance plan for each machine including a machine breakdown analysis report to improve machine downtime.
  • Formulate and implement a critical spares plan to reduce machine downtime while keeping correct spares levels.
  • Attend to the rebuilding and modernizing of all equipment.
  • Attend to reports of equipment failure during the operational hours of the Company’s manufacturing facility.
  • Manage the installation of new equipment and fixtures and the removal of old equipment.
  • Ensure the servicing and maintenance of all equipment is done on a regular basis.
  • Implement and control a preventative program for all production equipment utilized in the Company’s operations.
  • Control the stock of spares, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with maintenance of bakery equipment for the Hotbake Retail Store.
  • Keep maintenance files for all production equipment.
  • Responsible for completing and filing job cards for all work done, including the cost of parts and labour.
  • Prepare orders for items required in the line of duty and have the orders authorized as per Company Rules.
  • Ensure that a Goods Received Voucher (GRV) is completed for all items received.
  • Ensure that the required fixed asset transfer documents are in order prior to moving any items or equipment from the plant.
  • To have and maintain written proof for stock control of spares and equipment.
  • Assist with the training, development, mentoring, and well-being of the associates in this department.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification – Millwright or Diploma.
  • GCC certificate would be an advantage.
  • Five years’ experience in engineering and maintenance of food/bakery processing.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment requiring knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, industrial electrical, mechanical systems, maintenance, automated manufacturing process controls, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems, process controls, and instrumentation.
  • Experience in plant layout design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of preventative maintenance techniques/scheduling and safety management.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and spatial aptitude, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, sanitation processes/procedures, and HACCP.
  • Project management.
  • MS Office proficient.
