Job Description
RPO Recruitment’s client in the irrigation industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Senior Buyer to join their team in Gauteng.
Responsibilities:
- Based on S&OP process, running MRP on the ERP system, determine the demand for purchasing purposes for local and import orders.
- For local orders negotiate pricing from local suppliers and ensure best quality, price and delivery date is obtained.
- For import orders place orders on company Entities.
- Costing of all imported shipments.
- Liaise with import shipping companies and coordinate receipt in order of priority.
- Expedite orders.
- Responsible for the effective control of all aspects in terms of the procurement process of purchasing of goods and services, controlling of purchase orders.
- Receives, reviews, and evaluates requisitions for materials, and action all purchasing requests that comes from internal and external customers.
- Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
- Calculate cost of orders, and charge & forward invoices to finance department.
- Compare and evaluate offers from suppliers.
- Capture costing and closing of orders after completion for the above.
- Research potential Suppliers.
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
- Working within the management team & contacting suppliers to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and report any back ordered or missing products.
- Attend production meetings and supplier follow up meetings where required (Keeping records).
- Review purchasing files, reports, and price lists.
- Implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities or cost reduction strategies.
- Maintain bill of materials.
- Negotiate commercial aspects such as, price, quality, service, lead time, payment terms and non-conformances.
- Investigate and resolve price variances.
- Support Supply chain planning and execution.
- Initiate cost deduction projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain / Logistics and/or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in Procurement, Project Buying and Supply Chain Management.
- Specific knowledge, skill, ability, and requirements: The candidate is required to be proficient and conversational in both English and Afrikaans languages. They must have excellent analytical, negotiation, verbal and written communication skills are essential. Must have sound knowledge on Microsoft products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Teams etc.
