Job Description:
RPO's client is currently seeking a highly experienced and skilled Mine Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of their mining site. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading a team of mining staff, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, and driving operational efficiency. To lead the Mining Team in the cost-effective optimisation and extraction of the ore body and to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals Act and its Regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:
• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Department through effective use of the Toolbox• Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status:
PEOPLE:
Manage the Department:
• Ensure an enabling climate/culture
• Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover
o Labour complement in line with budget
o Achieve HDSA/Female targets for the Department
• Manage performance against set targets and competencies
o Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
• Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
• Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
• Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
•Conduct recruitment interviews
CUSTOMERS
• Ensure Customer Satisfaction
BUSINESS PROCESSES
Mining Management:
• Manage the day-to-day operation of the mine
• Ensure that the work performed is in accordance with the prescribed training
• Ensure that the person performing the work has the required authority
Ore Body Optimisation:
• Optimise Ore Body in compliance to the Mine Planning and Exploitation Strategy
Strategic Planning:
• Manage the Strategic Plan (2-5 years)
• Manage the Life of Mine Plan
Tactical Planning:
• Manage the Tactical Plan (< 1 year)
GROWTH
• Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
• Compile and control the Mining budget
Qualifications:
- Degree or Technikon Diploma
- Mine Manager Certificate of competency (Metalliferous Mining)
- Mine Health and Safety Act (3.1) appointment
- 8 Years relevant experience, preferably 3 year’s managerial experience
