Job Description

One of the State-of-the-Art mines in the industry, based in the Northern Cape is looking to expand their team and employ an Open Cast GCC Services Trackless Engineer.  The successful candidate will be responsible for cost effective maintenance management to always ensure availability and safe operation  of the following assets, Logistics Earth Moving Equipment (EME) fleet, Heavy and Light Motor Vehicle (HMV and LMV) fleet and trailers. The Engineer will further be required to maintain all TMM add-on safety systems like Proximity Detection and Collision Prevention Systems (PDS and CPS), the Engineer will further be responsible for Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance Management of the Drilling, Road Maintenance and Blasting Business Partner Engineering Sections.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor compliance to; MHS Act of 1996 and Regulations and, Internal Mine; COP'S, SOP's, Managerial instructions, and other legislative requirements as deemed necessary by the company. 
  • Leads and manages end-to-end detailed analysis of work processes, master data, and organisation design to identify inefficiencies in the execution of work to diagnose functional and cross-functional business problems and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Supports the identification of functional capability gaps and manages required actions to address them to enable functional excellence.
  • Ensure optimal asset performance within legal requirements and corporate standards.  
  • Continued improvement and enforcement of Engineering Standards.
  • Planning and execution of OPEX and CAPEX expenditures.
  • Ensure satisfied internal and external customers and motivated staff in a safe working environment.
  • Training, development, mentoring and coaching of subordinates to promote a culture of continuous improvement. 

 

Requirements:

  • BSc/BEng/BTech or NHD in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a GCC Engineer in a mining environment.
  • Trade certificate and Government Certificate of Competency (GCC).
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience on TMM and General Infrastructure maintenance. 
  • Project management certificate will be advantageous.
  • Planning and Improvement within an Opencast Mining Environment.
  • SAP, Ellipse, SAGE or KARABO PM or similar experience.
  • Junior Management Development Programme.
  • Able to work at heights.
  • Legal liability, First Aid, and firefighting.
  • Valid driver’s license code 08.
  • Certificate of fitness to work in a mining environment.
