Job Title: Key Accounts Manager (Wholesale)

Location: Ladysmith/Newcastle area

A leading South African sugar manufacturing company with a proud 132-year history and a strong socio-economic legacy in KwaZulu-Natal is looking for an experienced Key Accounts Manager (Wholesale) with strong experience in the FMCG environment to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated sales professional to drive overall business performance by developing new business from existing clients, exploring new customer segments, and creating a platform for long-term growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the sales and profitability of the account.
  • Accurately forecast annual, quarterly, and monthly revenue streams.
  • Balance company objectives and customer requirements.
  • Contribute to the operational budget through estimations for provisions to enable the key client to achieve and or improve performance levels.
  • Generate reports that analyze competition, customers, and product performance in the market.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and develop solutions to enhance customer relationships in a cost-effective way.
  • Review actual sales against estimated demands to identify customer activity trends.
  • Prepare responses to correspondence from key clients on service levels, quality, product specification, and pricing.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by providing problem-solving resources and conducting client visits.
  • Monitor sales data and account performance, e.g., follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Handle complex and escalated customer service issues.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned market segment.
  • Oversee and intervene to address issues impacting on retail customer relationships.
  • Negotiate, agree, and close sales agreements and contracts.
  • Identify opportunities to grow revenue, market share, and profitability within the South African retail channel.
  • Participate in the recruitment process to enable proper identification and appointment of key skills.
  • Take action to improve engagement and employee relations.

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in the Commercial field.
  • 5-7 years of work experience in sales, preferably in an FMCG environment.
  • Proven work experience in handling key accounts/clients.
  • Strong experience with forecasting sales and building customer relationships.
  • Experience in leading teams and building relationships across cultures.
  • Ability to interpret, link, and analyze information systemically in order to understand complex issues.
  • Proven ability to communicate broadly and powerfully.
  • Computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license.
